References to Journals
'Scape: The International Magazine for Landscape Architecture and Urbanism'Scape was based on creating modern landscapes and creating an existance between urbanism and the environment. We incorporated this idea into our library by creating a very co-existing structure with the landscape. The building is placed on a very tricky and distinguishable uprising and points, which define the levels of the building. To create a more natural environment inside, we have made alot of window space, allowing for views, natural sunlight and an outdoor feel to the scheme. Along with this we have created many points in the building where it feels like your standing next to or upon a tree, as the glass walls and landscaped trees provide this sense of feeling.
Lighting Research & Technology
This journal allowed us to play with light alot and with flexibility, we decided to introduce as much natural light as possible into the building, through glass windows and sunlights. In one of the articles, it mentioned alot on humans reaction and control over light, thus we decided to create an interactive feature in our dweliing that allows the human or avatar to control the lighting. By providing switches on the wall, all it takes it a flip of the switch and the lights are on or off. This required scripting and planning, as each light had to be within 3.5metres of linked switch, I over came this by creating an almost 'wiring' system which is hidden within the walls, by linking prims together I could easily link lights that were over the 3.5metre limit range of the switch.
A+T
I couldnt find much on this journal and so its existance with the building was not as prominant as the others. The article I mentioned earlier in the blog was about co-existance with buildings and the streets outside, we have tried to incorporate this idea by creating an almost mosaic outside the dwelling, with grass areas for relaxation, trees for shade and pathing for transport to and from the building.

Tricky Particles
It took Richard and me awhile to get the hang of these particles, once figured out though we were on our way. Weve created a ballon machine at the entrance of the library, setting a cheerful mood for anyone that enters or see these red ballons floating around NZVWG. Our next task was to create a fountain for the rooftop water feature, these fountains look great and create a realism towards the virtual world. More scripting...
More Prims! Textures
DEVELOPMENT
Building starting to develop now and take an unusual twist with scheme, Richard came up with visual effect which created flare to the building which we decided to carry on throughtout the building. Although maybe dangerous, looks very interesting and almost turns buidling from ordinary concept to a more virtual, online building.
TEXTURES
Unfortunately, when trying to logon to the NZVWG through the second life browser, it either did not allow us to logon or crashed everytime we teleported or moved. Due to this we have had to use the Hippo NZVWG Browser, which was a very different system. We were limited by this and could not upload our textures and alpha channels which we wanted to use... maybe a bit of help needed? But after building shape and format was finalised, we got down to the fun job of texturizing walls, glass, floors, stairs and decking.

Scripting!
Scripting began tough, confusing and created headaches, BUT once Scratch for SL was downloaded it became much easier, frustrating and very entertaining! Creating a script for a door to slide left, and somehow it would slide right... then up? halirious.
It WORKS! Both doors slide when avatar collides with door, but quickly, you've got 3seconds.

The Fun Begins!
Working with my group member Richard, we come up with building scheme and plan drawings, which slowly transform into a virtual buidling. Photos show shape, and the different levels of the building.
The Treehouse
Created on ArchiCAD, a very simple and attractive way of creating structures, it provided some entertainment and anger on the way, but a small part of the project in the end. Limited by the issue of not being able to download ArchiCAD, the tree house was limited to little time to be able to complete Library on time. The tree house has small climbing ropes positioned next to the ladder as a toy; I found these very entertaining in the past and found them a good accessory to a good tree house.
Journal 3: 'Scape: The International Magazine for Landscape Architecture and Urbanism'
Once meet with group, we realised we share this journal, seeming a bit odd, I think we should create a scheme that incorporates ideas from this journal a lot more than others. Scape's journals provide views of designs incorporating both landscapes and townscapes; it publishes articles containing opinions on projects, arguments and professional views.
From this journal, because of its involvement in landscapes and projects that involve structures within the landscape, our group should come up with some sort of landscape surrounding the building.
Journal 2: Lighting Research & Technology
Much easier to find than A+T...
This journal publishes the latest research and technology in lighting, areas of research include; human response to light, light generation, light control and measurement. They also publish articles on design and sustainability which is areas we are currently studying. Although being a very informative journal, i found it very technical and information packed, which for some is great but I like the more alternative and interesting articles.
From this journal I think our group will have to incorporate some extraordinary lighting scheme that can be controlled and tested by the users virtually.

Journal 1: A+T
Once found in the library I spent a bit of time reading a few of these journals and found them quite interesting as they publish articles on present issues surrounding buildings. An interesting article included the 'Domesticating the Urban Street', where they wrote about the street, ground floors and returning the public space to urban space, encouraging social relations. This creates a interesting thought of urban area streets being created not only for transport for for a form of socialization or other forms of public space that can be introduced.
From this article and journal "A+T", the buidling will try to create a form of co-existence between the outdoors or "street" and indoor space, creating a form of socialization virtually outside and in.
